UB will host the 30th Ride for Roswell — the annual bicycle ride to help raise funds to support cancer research and patient treatment at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center — on June 28. The ride will begin and end at the north end of the North Campus in the Governors C and D and Jarvis A and B lots. The Celebration of Hope will be held in the same location on June 27.

Ride for Roswell is one of the nation’s largest charity cycling events, bringing a community of people together to celebrate cancer survivors, pay tribute to those lost and share in a passion that connects us all: finding cures for cancer.

The North Campus community should expect heavy pedestrian and bike traffic that Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Individuals are asked to take note of upcoming closures, noted below, and plan their commutes accordingly.

Faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to join the university’s team, now under a new, unified name: UB (previously UB Spirit). Participants’ family and friends are also welcome to join the team.

Register for the here.

“I joined the team around 2007 and have been honored to serve as captain since 2017,” says Douglas Levere, photo and video manager for University Communications. “We all ride for a reason. I lost my mom to cancer and love to ride in her memory and support other families so they may not have to suffer from cancer. It is a great cause that supports our community.”

Riders over 16 years old must raise $200 by ride day, which goes directly to cancer research and patient care. The team offer tools to help riders reach the minimum, and participants can earn rewards for fundraising efforts. Riders can choose routes best suited for them, ranging from four to 100 miles.

Registered participants will receive team T-shirts and are welcome to visit UB’s spirit tent after the ride to enjoy food and gather with colleagues. More information will be sent to registrants prior to the event.
